September 6, 2026 (Fort Worth, TX) – TMJ is proud to announce the transfer of Mexican National Team Captain and TMJ Athlete Rebeca Bernal to Manchester United Women of the Women’s Super League in England, becoming the first Mexican women player to play for Manchester United.

“I am so excited and grateful to be here. I have lived many exciting moments in my career, and arriving at Manchester United is without a doubt something incredible,” shared Rebeca. “I am counting the hours to step onto the pitch, connect with the fans and give everything I have to pursue the club’s goals. I know what this opportunity is, what it represents for me, for Mexico and for the club, and I am ready.”

“Rebeca is an outstanding player who brings quality, leadership and experience to our young exciting squad,” stated Matt Johnson, Director of Women’s Football at Manchester United. “She possesses the required determination to succeed and winning mentality to thrive at Manchester United.”

“Rebeca Bernal is undoubtedly one of those footballers who has made us better and allowed us to dream big—so big that today we have our first TMJ Athlete at Manchester United,” expressed Co-CEO, Co-Founder and Principal Agent, Guillermo Zamarripa.

“As a native of Tampico, I cannot overlook the personal significance this move holds for my career as a FIFA agent, nor can I hide the immense pride I feel seeing a fellow Tampico native make it to England and the ‘Theatre of Dreams.’”

The Tampico, Mexico native joins Manchester United on a three-year deal after playing with Washington Spirit in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) since February of 2025. Rebeca made noise early into her time with the Spirit, converting a penalty during her debut match for the team in the 2025 Challenge Cup and securing her first trophy.

Bernal has since been a regular starter, helping the team make it to the 2025 NWSL Championship last year. With the Spirit, she played in 20 matches, accumulated over 1400 minutes, and scored three goals across all competitions.

Prior to playing in Washington, Rebeca Bernal started her professional career in Mexico with CF Monterrey Femenil, or Rayadas, in 2017 when the league first formed. Her strong tenacity and loyalty to her teammates made her captain and fans quickly made her a household name as she went on to win four league titles in Mexico, including historic back-to-back trophies during the 2024 calendar year. Despite being a defender, Rebeca was also a reliable goalscorer in Monterrey, netting an impressive 66 goals for the club and solidifying herself as the defender with the most goals in the club’s history.

On the international stage, Rebeca has played for Mexico across all levels, including the youth squads during the 2014 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup and the 2016 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup. She debuted with the senior team in 2017 and was one of the key players that led Mexico to win its first-ever Gold Medal at the 2023 Pan American Games. She helped make history in 2024 with Mexico’s second ever victory against the US Women’s National Team during the Concacaf W Gold Cup tournament and earned herself a Best XI spot for her strong performance.

“Being in Manchester with Rebe, accompanying her in such an important step in her career, is something sensational,” stated Co-Founder and Principal Agent, Oscar Gonzalez. “The most emotional part for us at TMJ is this: having accompanied a footballer all these years and seeing her achieve new dreams. I have no doubt that she will do incredibly well in this new chapter.”
