August 28, 2026 (Fort Worth, TX) – TMJ is pleased to announce that Arturo Ruiz has joined English club Brighton & Hove Albion as the women’s first-team coach, signing on until 2029.
In a press release shared by the club, women’s chair Michelle Walder stated, “We’re delighted to welcome Arturo as the new women’s head coach. He has a clear understanding of our club values, and we are confident he will continue to drive standards towards achieving our long-term goals. We’re excited to work with him.”
At 29 years old, the Spaniard joins Brighton to become the youngest foreign coach in the Women’s Super League. Ruiz has already had so much experience in women’s football at such a young age. Prior to heading to England, Ruiz was head coach for Liga F side Real Sociedad since July 2025. During the 2025–26 season and under his guidance, the Spanish club secured a record 21 wins, six draws, and five losses, finishing third in the league. He also secured a spot for the qualifying round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Sporting Director Mike Cave mirrored Walder’s sentiments, stating, “Arturo is a talented young coach who has demonstrated his ability in improving teams and layers he has worked with during his coaching career. His leadership qualities and coaching philosophy excites us and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can achieve within our environment.”
Before that, he was the head coach of Granada FC Femenino, earning himself Marca’s Liga F Best Coach Award for the 2024-2025 season for securing the team a historic fifth-place finish and a semi-final run in the Copa de la Reina.
Ruiz’s start in the industry includes working in a variety of development roles within the academy systems for Spanish clubs, including Atlético Madrid. He was appointed first-team head coach of Atlético Madrid in 2024, making his managerial debut at just 27 years old. The team was able to finish third in the league and even secured qualification for the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
